The VCF Foundation launched the Escoles COR Blanquinegre scheme in the 2015/16 season, to help the education system improve the performance of young people at risk of social exclusion. The project does this with weekly training sessions run by coaches from the VCF Foundation and VCF Femenino in schools throughout the local region, featuring the collaboration of the Diputació de València and Ajuntament de València.
This sports and educational activity, which completed its fifth season in 2019/20 with 50 children and 800 beneficiaries, kept going during the lockdown period, moving online to provide alternatives for students.
One of these was the courses coordinated by José Vicente Giménez, coach of VCF Femenino B. His course includes physical preparation, sports nutrition, individual technique, individual tactics and rules modules. 61 boys and girls from 18 centres participated in these courses.
Of these, the CEIP Ciutat Artista Faller de València was adjuged to have best adapted to the project, both as a centre (led by Physical Education teacher, George Dahan) and the students themselves (a total of 6). As a reward for their efforts, the VCF Foundation gifted them a tour of Mestalla, where Valencia CF president Anil Murthy congratulated them in person and presented them with gifts.
They were also accompanied by José Luis Zaragosí of the VCF Foundation, Pablo Mantilla, director general of the VCF Foundation, and Antonio Salvador, head of the Escoles COR Blanquinegre project.
